Paul McCartney Performs Joyous Impromptu Rendition of 'New' Backstage [WATCH]

Paul McCartney was caught on camera backstage putting on his suit jacket, checking himself in the mirror and preparing for his Regina, SK (Canada) show. All the while, he was whistling and clapping to the melody of his newest single, "New." He begins singing the first verse a capella, and suddenly the black and white footage flashes to his band joining in on the action.

With only a guitar, their hands and their voices, the band creates an intimate acoustic version of the song with Macca energetically directing the impromptu performance. They whole crew seems to be having a blast, and it even appears that they took a break and started the acoustic performance again after McCartney grabbed a drink.

We aren't sure if this encounter was random or planned; regardless, it was adorable, uplifting and just plain brilliant.

McCartney and his band have been on the road for most of the year for the "Out There!" tour. His first solo album in six years, "New," is scheduled to drop Oct. 15.
