Yesterday we told you there was a chance that Amanda Bynes's parents would not be attempting to gain a conservatorship over their daughter's assets because they did not want to make things even worse than they already are. It has been more than two weeks since Bynes was basically tricked onto a plane surrounded by people who would eventually deliver her safely to an inpatient psychiatric facility and the former actress is still furious. Well, yesterday her parents decided to protect her assets and did in another conservatorship over Bynes — buying Cartier jewelry for complete strangers did not help matters.
According to TMZ's reporting, Bynes's parents filed legal documents saying Bynes is a "substantial risk" to herself and others. They used her recent erratic behavior, including her DUI arrest last month, her shoplifting and violent outbursts in Ne York City to bolster their request for control.
The filing also revealed that Bynes has a current net worth of $5,747,703.36. Of that, $2.8 million is real property and rental homes. She only earned $144,768 last year, and every penny came from her rental property. Her parents claimed Bynes's recent spending has included lavish Cartier jewelry to complete strangers, and they feared that if left to her own devices their daughter would be broke in no time.
A judge apparently agreed, as the conservatorship was once again put in place. This comes on the heels of the news that Bynes's original involuntary commitment has been extended an additional 30 days because her doctors believe she is in no condition to take care of herself. Sources close to the situation believe Bynes is likely looking at longterm treatment in an inpatient facility this time around.
It's sad to see how quickly Bynes has unraveled again. Last July, she was in good shape, preparing to move out of her parents's home and just a few short months later she is back in a facility and quite possibly doing even worse than she was last year.
