Ylvis' 'The Fox' Comes to The Gridiron, Performed by Ohio University's Marching 110

Norwegian pop group Ylvis might not have had the most viral song of the year in 2013. It seems just a few weeks after the video for the absurd "What Does The Fox Say?" went crazy on YouTube, people are already sick of it. Maybe it just doesn't have the flexibility that Bauuer's "Harlem Shake" did. One group, the Ohio University marching band, put a fresh spin on the song Saturday night when it performed "Fox Say?" during the halftime performance at the university's football game against Marshall.

The upside: When the "Marching 110" open with the first verse, it's instantly recognizable to people in-the-know. If, like some of our mothers, the verse doesn't give it away, the blast of the horns at "what does the fox say?" gives it away. The downside: There aren't any lyrics (the best part of the track), but the musicians do their best to make up for it with choreographed dance moves based on the video. Incorporating the school's chorale group, or finding some animal costumes might have been nice, but we understand they're not TBDBITL...but Ohio State University should keep an eye out.

Ohio U. has taken to the pop charts (LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem") and pop culture (Psy's "Gangnam Style") for ideas in the past when preparing halftime performances. And this time it might have been just crazy enough to work...The Wildcats (who say something far more fierce than "meow" as Ylvis reports) beat the Marshall Buffalo 34-31 in the annual "Battle for The Bell" game.
