The crew of big names, including Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford and Jim James, have shared their finished version of a lost Bob Dylan song titled "Six Months in Kansas City (Liberty Street)."
Costello leads the charge on this powerful tune alongside Mumford (Mumford & Sons), James (My Morning Jacket), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops) and big-time producer T Bone Burnett. The artists, performing as The New Basement Tapes, finished a bunch of old Dylan lyrics and put the words to music for their upcoming Lost on the River LP.
"Six Months" is an all-around epic track, with each artist adding their own vocal line between a swirling chorus. Check out the video below or watch it over at Rolling Stone.
The group has already shared a handful of tracks from the album, out Nov. 11, including "Nothing to It," "Married to My Hack," "When I Get My Hands on You" and "Spanish Mary." Altogether, the album will include 15 songs Dylan reportedly started back in 1967.
The album's companion documentary, Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued, will premiere Nov. 21 on Showtime. Sam Jones, responsible for Wilco's I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, will direct the documentary, which, according to a press release, will give an "exclusive and intimate look at the making of Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes set against the important and historical cultural backdrop of Bob Dylan's original Basement Tapes."
Dylan himself will revisit The Basement Tapes Nov. 4 when his special collection spanning 138 songs is released. The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 will feature 30 previously unreleased songs.
