Last night at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, the Foo Fighters celebrated Halloween in KISS makeup and played an astounding 26-song set featuring old, new and cover tracks.
As Consequence of Sound points out, the show was full of plenty of surprises including the live premiere of their new Sonic Highways tune "Congregation" and covers by Cheap Trick, Queen, Van Halen and Tom Petty. The band was joined by singer-songwriter Tony Joe White for his "Polk Salad Annie" and Zac Brown for the gnarly Black Sabbath cover of "War Pigs," which they performed last month during their week-long residency on The Late Show with David Letterman.
The third episode of the group's HBO series that chronicles the making of their upcoming eighth studio album aired last night as well, and it took place in The Music City with Brown hosting the band at Southern Ground studios. The "Toes" singer helped out on the band's new song "Congregation."
Sonic Highways is out November 10. The next stop for the band on their series is Austin, where they put the finishing touches on the album's fourth track, "What Did I Do/God as My Witness."
