Naya Rivera, better known as Santana from Glee, has released the lyric video for her first single "Sorry" off her upcoming debut album.
Rivera addresses her boyfriend's ex-lovers, telling them, "Sorry, I'm not sorry." The video seems tame enough at first, until you realize that the lyrics are being projected across the naked bodies of women who are presumably her boyfriend's exes.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Rivera explained the thinking behind the lyric video.
"...You have to keep in mind that this is just the lyric video so it's actually the video before the video," she told them. "So I had this idea that, since there's so much hype and talk about the song being all about these girls and how I'm allegedly calling out all these exes, I thought, 'Why don't we get these girls and project the lyrics onto their bodies?' That's sort of where it started and we turned them into human canvases. I really like the way it came out."
Her real-life boyfriend, Big Sean, makes an appearance on the track as well. "I just thought his vibe and his swag would really fit this song," Rivera told Rolling Stone. "I thought he would bring something special to it, and I was right."
In other Naya Rivera/Big Sean news: The couple was recently photographed together in Terry Richardson's studio. Rivera wore short cut-offs and a very cropped tank top (read: under-boob visible) while boyfriend Big Sean went topless and sported gold jewelry and black jeans with Calvin Klein briefs showing.
Rivera's debut album is set to drop sometime in 2014. Glee is expected to end after its sixth season. Season five of the show premieres Sept. 26.
