Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is the most recent athlete to sign with Jay-Z's sports management company, Roc Nation Sports.
According to XXL, the announcement was made earlier today, Nov. 2, via the company's Instagram account.
"A warm welcome to the newest member of the #RocNationSports family, @DezBryant! #ThrowUpTheX," the post reads.
Cowboys owner and figurehead Jerry Jones was trying to persuade Bryant not to sign with Roc Nation, multiple outlets report. With Bryant set to renegotiate his contract, Jones will have to talk specifics with Jay-Z's company, which CBS Sports says he is "reluctant" to do.
By all accounts, Bryant, a league standout, will be negotiating for a ton of dough.
"I believe a player should get paid what he deserves," Bryant said in August. "If I'm top five, I'm top five. If I'm top three, I'm top three. If I'm top two, I'm top two. It is what it is."
The agency started in 2013, making baseball player Robinson Cano its first client. The company also represents Geno Smith, CC Sabathia, Kevin Durant and Victor Cruz. Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh signed with the agency in September.
Bryant entered the NFL as the 24th pick in the draft for the Dallas Cowboys. According to the NFL's website, he has 341 passes for 4,724 yards.
Jay-Z's sports agency is a branch of parent company Roc Nation, which the mogul started in 2008.
"Founder Shawn 'JAY Z' Carter's love of sports lead to the natural formation of Roc Nations Sports, helping athletes in the same way Roc Nation has been helping artists in the music industry for years," the company's website reads. "Roc Nation Sports focuses on elevating athletes' career on a global scale both on and off the field. Roc Nation Sports conceptualizes and executes marketing and endorsement deals, community outreach, charitable tie-ins, media relations and brand strategy."
