A photo has started circulating with the potential details of a new secret album from Beyoncé. She shocked the world last December when she released her self-titled album without a moment's notice and now could be looking to do the same with a potential follow-up. The potential album would include 10 new songs and have features from Justin Timberlake, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Frank Ocean, Rihanna and others.
Is this a legitimate leak, a fake or another brilliant marketing ploy by her camp? Let's dissect a little further down after you take a look at the picture yourself.
According to The Huffington Post, there has not been any response or comment from Beyoncé's camp, which could mean they are handling things internally before choosing to comment or may not speak out at all to try and keep the album shrouded in what little mystery it has left.
Looking into this "Release Confirmation," we find things that work for and against it. First, the release date, Nov. 14, is indeed next Friday, but Nov. 25 is a Tuesday, not a Monday, as stated in the contract. That seems a little odd to mess up, especially when everything else seems so well-put together and the label pictures seem legitimate, or it could just be an innocuous typo.
The tracklist contains several clues as to the verity of this memo. As Vulture points out, the tracklist suggests that if someone faked this, they are part of the Beyhive: One of the tracks, "DONK," featuring Nicki Minaj, was actually registered by Beyoncé with ASCAP — the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers — a couple weeks ago ... Another track listing, "Cherry" — also registered on ASCAP — also lists Rihanna, which plays into long-standing rumors that the two are supposed to be collaborating on a track together.
The release date would make sense for the holiday season, especially the physical copy coming three days before the United States's biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday. Fake contracts have been circulated on the Web before, but besides the error with the date, this seems like it could be real.
Is this a Beyoncé fan's dream come true or a teasing nightmare? We will find out soon enough.
