You probably know Dan Wilson as the lead singer of Semisonic or as the co-writer of Adele's hit "Someone Like You." But Wilson has been a consistent solo presence, playing shows across the world for the better part of the past decade since Semisonic shut down operations. The Minneapolis native just announced three "Words & Music by Dan Wilson" shows that will include plenty of banter and shop-talking between songs.
"If you haven't been to one of these shows yet, essentially they're an excuse for me to tell stories and talk a little bit more than I normally would about my songwriting process, about experiences I've had with my collaborators, and about what inspires me as an artist and a writer," he said in an email release. "And of course I'll perform a lot of songs from throughout my musical life. At the end of each night, I'll hand out an 'illuminated set list,' an illustrated 'road map' of the songs I played and the stories that led from one to the next."
Here are the dates:
02/26: New York, NY @ City Winery [tickets on sale 11/04]
02/27: Boston, MA @ Café 939 [tickets on sale 11/05]
02/28: Philadelphia, PA @ World Café Live [tickets on sale 11/05]
Semisonic went on hiatus in 2001, after a follow-up to the smash hit Feeling Strangely Fine failed to make a dent on the singles charts.
The 53-year-old has settled into several songwriting and production gigs (Taylor Swift, John Legend, Weezer) over the past few years, but he's also found time to finish his second studio effort, which is currently available via a Pledge campaign pre-order.
