Jack U, the super duo consisting of Skrillex and Diplo, have officially released on their soundcloud page the blistering, two-hour Diplo & Friends mix they crafted when the twosome took over Diplo's BBC Radio One residency two weekends ago on Oct. 25, according to BBC.
Skrillex and Diplo first formed Jack U to give a name to a creative relationship that had already existed for several years. Skrillex is no stranger to the big name DJ collaborations with his work alongside German techno leader Boys Noize as Dog Blood and Diplo as well as a long-standing member of Major Lazer. With their strong friendship and common vision as artists and label owners, the collaboration made sense.
Since their show at Ultra Music Festival in Miami this spring, the hype has been nearly overwhelming for Jack U performances and music. They performed a few choice dates together on Diplo's Mad Decent Block Party tour across the U.S., premiering some new music that showcased an interesting blend between the influences of Skrillex and Diplo.
With the third day of Electric Zoo being canceled and their headlining set with it, Jack U announced they would be taking the prestigious job of headlining Madison Square Garden on New Years Eve, a gig normally reserved for jamband Phish.
The duo released their debut single with Kiesza, "Take U," in September, but have been silent on the vast library of unreleased tunes that we see in this mix. It is the Diplo & Friends mix you should hit play on if you have not already showcased the many unreleased tracks they have, as well as their diverse taste in music from jersey club to hip-hop to trap to electro and everything in between.
Jack U are only warming up and with this mix. They show just how much more they have to give to the world.
