Alessandro Lindblad (better known as Alesso) is a 23-year-old Swedish DJ who tends to add a more "human" sound to his electronic music.
"Honestly, I'm a pretty emotional person," he told Billboard in a recent interview. "Sometimes that's what is missing in the electronic landscape — the real emotions. I have a euphoric sound, so when you combine that with an emotional message, it sticks with people."
His new song "Heroes (We Could Be)" (feat. Tove Lo) taps into that emotional space.
"When Tove Lo and I first started working together, she'd tell me about how she wanted to be different, to stand out as an artist," Alesso said. "And on some level, I think everyone goes through that. As a teenager, I was always wondering about who I was, what was my identity, did I secretly wish I was someone else. But as you [age], you realize that it's not about being someone else.
"My team and I reached out to her to see if she'd be interested in a collaboration, and a couple months later, we began writing the lyrics that would go over these instrumentals. We discussed what it should be about — we knew it should be an emotional record — and she came back with this gorgeous topline."

Alesso has already produced three Top 10 Swedish singles ("If I Lose Myself," "Under Control" and "Heroes") as a lead artist, while "Heroes" is his first track to crack the Top 100 in the U.S.
He's somewhat of a protégé of Sebastian Ingrosso.
"About three-and-a-half years ago I think now, I met him and I gave him a CD with some of my songs," Alesso told InTheMix in 2013. "He loved it and asked me if I wanted to start working with him. So I did! Then we became really good friends and we've been doing shows together and travelling around the world. He's an amazing person and producer; he's so experienced as well. I've learned a lot from him."
