Late Night Rundown: Your Guide to This Week's Musical Guests Sept. 23 through Sept. 27

Each week, network and cable television shows invite artists across genres to perform on their late night segments. Here are this week's musical guests. Be sure to check out our recaps after the show.

MONDAY NIGHT (September 23)

Late Show with David Letterman (CBS): Tired Pony

Americana band Tired Pony will come on the show in support of its upcoming sophomore album, "The Ghost of The Moon."

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC): Justin Timberlake

Fresh off his iHeartRadio Music Festival set, Justin Timberlake comes on the show in support of his upcoming release, "The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2." You can also check him out in "Runner Runner" with Ben Affleck and Gemma Arterton, in theaters Oct. 4.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC): Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney will perform a free concert on the show, causing a quarter-mile shutdown of Hollywood Boulevard. He is appearing on the show in support of his forthcoming album, "New."

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC): MGMT (rerun from 9/11)

MGMT performed material off their latest album. Watch them play "Alien Days" and "Plenty of Girls in the Sea."

TUESDAY NIGHT (September 24)

Late Show with David Letterman (CBS): Cher

Cher comes on the show in support of her latest album, "Closer to the Truth," which dropped today. She hinted to USA Today that this might be her "best album ever."

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno(NBC): Cher Lloyd

X-Factor (U.K.) season seven finalist, Cher Lloyd comes on the show in support of her upcoming album and its new single, "I Wish (feat. T.I.)" She released a teaser for the song's music video earlier today.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC): Justin Timberlake

Following, McCartney's Monday night show, Justin Timberlake will be the second artist to shut down a quarter-mile of Hollywood Boulevard this week. He comes on the show in support of his upcoming album and movie. See him tonight on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC): The Avett Brothers

Indie folk-rockers The Avett Brothers come on the show in support of their upcoming album, "Magpie and the Dandelion," which is due out Oct. 15.

The Colbert Report (Comedy Central): Metallica

Metallica will make a rare television appearance on the show to promote their 3D film, "Through The Never." The movie will debut on Sept. 27 through IMAX and will make it to theatres everywhere Oct. 4.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT (September 25)

Late Show with David Letterman (CBS): Icona Pop

Swedish electro-pop duo Icona Pop comes on the show in support of their latest album, "This is... Icona Pop," which drops Sept. 24.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC): Goodie Mob

Atlanta hip-hop group, Goodie Mob, will perform on the show after an interview with band member Cee-Lo Green. They are currently touring in support of their reunion album, "Age Against the Machine."

Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC): Sons of the Sea

Incubus' lead singer, Brandon Boyd performs in his new project Sons of the Sea. The bands debut, self-titled album comes out Sept. 24.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC): Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon comes on the show in support of their album, "Mechanical Bull," which comes out Sept. 24.

The Daily Show with John Stewart (Comedy Central): Atoms for Peace

Los Angeles supergroup Atoms for Peace - consisting of Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Nigel Godrich (Radiohead producer), Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.), Mauro Refosco (Forro in the Dark) - will stop by the show to promote the North American leg of their "AMOK" tour.

Conan (TBS): Deer Tick

Alt-country group Deer Tick stops by the show in support of their fifth studio album, "Negativity." According to Conan's website, "Ironically, we reacted very positively to [the album]." The album drops Sept. 24.

THURSDAY NIGHT (September 26)

Late Show with David Letterman (CBS): Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon comes on the show in support of their album, "Mechanical Bull," which comes out Sept. 24. See them perform Wednesday on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC): Little Big Town

UPDATE: Country group, Little Big Town, has cancelled its appearance on The Tonight Show due to a death in the family.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC): Avril Lavigne

Pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne comes by the show in support of her upcoming fifth studio album, the self-titled "Avril Lavigne," due out Sept. 24.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC): Goldfrapp

London-based electronic duo, Goldfrapp, comes by the show in support of their fifth studio album, "Tales of Us," which was released this month.

Conan (TBS): Slash

Rock god Slash comes by the show to show off a new song, written for his movie "Nothing Left to Fear." The soundtrack for the film comes out Oct. 4.

FRIDAY NIGHT (September 27)

Late Show with David Letterman (CBS): The Kruger Brothers with Steve Martin

Jens Kruger recently won the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. Martin will perform with Kruger's trio, The Kruger Brothers.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno(NBC): Gregory Porter

Jazz singer, Gregory Porter, comes by the show in support of his latest album, "Liquid Spirit." He begins his fall tour this month.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC): Bastille (rerun from 9/17)

The band performed "Bad Blood" and "Pompeii" on last week's segment.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC): Superchunk

North Carolina indie rockers, Superchunk, appear on the show to promote their "I Hate Music," tour.
