The rich get richer and the MTV EMAs add another massive talent to its roster of performers tonight. It was announced yesterday that the legendary and supremely talented Alicia Keys will be joining the MTV European Music Awards tonight, according to MTV.
MTV has made a big push with the MTV EMAs, in its 20th year, in the past few years, and the channel is going all in. Possibly the most talked-about person on the planet, Nicki Minaj, will be hosting the whole affair, where we will see appearances from Enrique Iglesias, Ed Sheeran, Kiesza, Charli XCX, Ariana Grande and more. There will also be a special tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during the show.
In a statement to Billboard, Bruce Gillmer, MTV EMAs executive producer, spoke about the event and what to expect.
"I'm looking forward to Nicki. I think she is going to be an amazing host," he shared. "Her performance is going to be very over the top. And we just announced this morning one of the biggest bands in history — U2, which is a massive coup and promises to be an incredible performance. We're going to have amazing tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, performances by Charli XCX, Royal Blood, ... Enrique Iglesias, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande. The list just goes on and on. And we've got some really cool collaborations, just incredible stuff that you'll only see here."
The music-making machine has been in full gear lately for Keys as earlier this year, Sep. 8, she uploaded a new song called "We Are Here" to her Facebook page. She is also working on her new, upcoming album with Pharrell and will be making an appearance on Madonna's upcoming album, playing one of the several Diplo-produced tracks set to make the album.
