Faith Hill will resume her acting career with a role in the upcoming movie Dixieland. The "Breathe" singer will play a mother figure alongside singer-songwriter Steve Earle (Treme) and Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough (Magic Mike).
Hill's last onscreen performance came in 2004 with her role as Sarah Sunderson in The Stepford Wives. In Dixieland, which recently wrapped filming according to Deadline, Hill will portray the mother of Chris Zylka's (The Leftovers) character, who recently was released from prison. RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad), Brad Carter (True Detective) and WWE personality Mick Foley are also involved in the crime drama.
On the music side of things, Hill hasn't released an album since 2008's holiday collection Joy to the World. Prior to that, the singer had a solid release with 2005's Fireflies, which hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart and Top Country Albums list.
The singer's husband, Tim McGraw, is also no stranger to acting. He's been in such films as Friday Night Lights, The Blind Side and Four Christmases. His next project is George Clooney's sci-fi picture Tomorrowland, out May 22.
McGraw talked about the movie recently with Rolling Stone Country. "There's not much I can say about it because I read the script, I acted in the movie and I still don't understand it," the singer, who will play a father and scientist in the movie, said. "It's a huge production; there's a lot going on. All the stuff I hear back, it's going to be spectacular."
"I get a lot [of scripts]; it's just finding the right thing for the right time," he added about his acting career. "It's got to be something that moves me. As an artist, you've got to have a visceral reaction. If you have to think about it, it's probably not the right thing."
