Country Music Goes Christian

When you hear the names Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Charlie Daniels, Josh Turner, Miranda Lambert and The Band Perry all in one sentence, what is the first thing that comes to mind? If you're like me, a big awards show is probably what you're thinking. While they have all won plenty of awards, this time, the news isn't about any of the awards shows. This is book news -- great book news! Jackson, Paisley, Underwood, Daniels, Turner, etc. are seven of the fifty-six country artists who will be featured in the first ever country devotional book from Zondervan, titled Once-A-Day Country Faith. In the hard-cover book, which will release on November 5, 2013, each artist will share their favorite scripture, why it touches them deeply and how it affects their daily walk with God. Noted music journalist, Deborah Evans Price, interviewed each artist and put together the stories that are sure to touch fans around the world.

In a press release, Price talked about the project and how it touched her, saying, "Country Faith is one of the most meaningful projects I've ever had the privilege of working on. This book provides artists a chance to share their faith and the revelations in these pages are insightful and inspiring. Country Faith has been a blessing to me and I'm sure it will deeply touch those who read it."

A portion of the sale of every Once-A-Day Country Faith book will benefit BMG recording artist and American Idol alum Danny Gokey's charity, Sophia's Heart Foundation. Gokey started the foundation following the death of his first wife from a heart condition in 2008 shortly before he took the Idol stage. Its purpose is to "help mend and heal the hearts of children and families who have been touched by poverty, sickness, disease, broken homes and broken dreams." Gokey's own book, Hope in Front of Me: Find Purpose in Your Darkest Moments, will hit stores on October 1, and will share the story of the path he took to heal after his young wife's death.
