More than two months after the vehicular accident that left two members of Korean pop act Ladies' Code dead, the band's manager has been arrested in connection to the crash. Authorities have only given the man's last name, Park, but have confirmed that he's 26 years old, according to Billboard.
The group was traveling in a van driven by Park toward Seoul when it smashed into a guardrail, instantly killing member EunB while injuring the other four members of the group. Rise, another vocalist in the band passed away from her injuries at the hospital two days after her bandmate's funeral.
Park was arrested under charges of excessive speeding, with no word yet on what other charges will stem from the deaths of two of his passengers. The police indicate that he was traveling around 84 mph on a 62 mph road when the accident occurred. More damning is the fact that it was raining when the accident occurred and local law stipulates that drivers slow down to around 50 mph under those conditions. Even worse, Park tried to mislead officials by claiming that the back wheel of the van had fallen off, resulting in the crash, while later analysis from authorities conclude it had come off as a result of the collision.
Polaris Entertainment, the label behind Ladies' Code, announced earlier this week the the surviving members of the group had returned to the dormitory where they resided together, but dismissed any notion that the performers would necessarily return to performing in the near future. The purpose of moving into the old residence was to allow them to console each other through the mourning process.
We're not sure if Ladies' Code will ever see the stage again but fans have pushed the group's single "Thank You, I'm Fine" to no. 1 on the charts as a tribute to the group following the tragedy.
