Netflix fans will be happy to learn that season two of The Fall will begin streaming live on Jan. 16 at 12:01 a.m. The BBC Two series stars Gillian Anderson as Detective Stella Gibson who is hot on the trail of Paul Spector, a serial killer played to perfection by Jamie Dornan. What is ironic is that while the characters never once met during the five episodes of season one, the chemistry between them is still palpable. That means that fans have been left begging for the moment when they finally come face to face.
The second season began airing in the U.K. today with a teaser synopsis of the series that will pique just about anyone's curiosity.
"Following Season 1's gripping cliff-hanger and despite Gibson and Spector never actually meeting on screen, the chemistry between the two characters was electric and the escalating rivalry became the lynchpin of the first season and left the audience crying out for more," says the official synopsis. "This critically-acclaimed series picks up immediately from where series one left off, with Gibson in pursuit of Spector. A personal link from Spector's past opens up some clues for Gibson but provokes Spector in a way that threatens to jeopardize the whole investigation. Gibson is forced to take ever greater risks but the closer she comes to capturing him, the more Spector trespasses into her private world, delighting in taunting and provoking her. As the net gradually tightens around him he becomes psychologically ever more dangerous and destructive."
Anderson has spoken recently about how much she has enjoyed working with Dornan and how interesting it is to finally be asked about something other than The X-Files. For years she was always asked about her costar from that cult classic hit show, David Duchovny. Now she finds herself grilled about Dornan thanks to the little role in Fifty Shades of Grey that he took. That hits the big screen around Valentine's Day so for now you'll have to get your fill of Dornan in The Fall.
