Don't sleep on J. Cole.
Literally. Don't do it. Hours after pre-order info for the rapper's unreleased 2014 Forest Hills Drive record leaked, J officially announced the project and dropped the artwork at midnight ET on Monday morning.
It appears as if the rumored release date — Dec. 9 — is legit, as the record is now available for pre-order on iTunes with the following artwork:
J also left a message for fans on his Facebook page:
What up? My New Album is finished. It's called 2014 Forest Hills Drive and it's very special to me. It's available everywhere on 12/9. This time I'm releasing no singles, just the album. See you in 3 weeks. Thank you for the love and support.
This is obviously great news for rap fans. As previously reported, For J Cole, this would be his first album since his 2013 effort Born Sinner. He has been largely quiet in 2014 besides a few remixes and features. He has been touring in support of the album as well. It appears, though, that with the lack of output this year, he has been hard at work on a new album, and it may be on the way a lot sooner then we might have expected.
Hot New Hip Hop points out that Cole will be going head to head with Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V on Dec. 9.
J also dropped a new mini-doc in anticipation of the new album. You can check that out below:
