Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros 'Reimagine' the Beatle's 'I Saw Her Standing There' as a Hard-Driving Country Tune

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros shared a cover of the Beatles classic "I Saw Her Standing There," on Rolling Stone today. Or rather, according to the band's Facebook page, a "reimagining."

"This wasn't meant to be a cover," the band explained. "The album is supposed to be about 'reimagining' these songs." The sound the band went for was a hard-driving country/Americana rendition.

The song will be included on a new compilation album called, Beatles Reimagined. According to Rolling Stone, the album is the brainchild of music executive Owen Husney. "There is a whole audience born around 1990 that knows the Beatles, but is wholly unfamiliar with their writing," he told them.

The album, which is scheduled to drop tomorrow (Oct. 1), on Community Music's Community Projects label, features covers of early Beatles tunes by indie bands including Badwolf, the Well Pennies and, of course, ESMZ.

"I thought 'I Saw Her Standing There' would be a fun song to do," Ebert told Rolling Stone. "We learned the song by listening to it a couple times. . . . We decided to do it in that same un-trying way, same as that night in Nashville, just everybody playing at once straight down the line, nothing special."

A percentage of the profits made from Beatles Reimagined will benefit music and youth charities. The album is now available for preorder.
