We've all heard about Kanye West's ego, but it looks like Azealia Banks is looking to give him a run for his money. More specifically, she challenged him to be as awesome as she was, suggesting that he couldn't produce anything as lofty as her debut, Broke With Expensive Taste, which will come out during 2014.
"The album's done, and it's great," she said in an interview with AU Review. "It's a really awesome piece of work. I really do think that I have the most innovative hip-hop record that hip-hop will see in the last 10 years, and for the next 25 years. And I challenge Kanye West to that - I challenge whoever to that."
Although we acknowledge Banks' ability to beat up a beat, suggesting that the her debut will trump West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, much less be the most forward-thinking hip-hop album of all time is awfully bold.
She further displayed her exaggerated independence by throwing away a track from the album that had been produced by Disclosure, the pair of producing brothers who have made waves with their album "Settle." The emcee claimed that the brothers gave a rude interview about her so she decided to axe the track, despite their having been nominated for the Mercury Award, because after all she had "much better stuff" for the album.
We're sure that Banks wouldn't have done anything to stir up trouble with Disclosure, after all she's only generated uproars for referring to three different feud-mates as "f----t," this year, as well as labeling GLAAD as "f-----g complete bulls---."
Banks has done a lot to build up Broke...let's see if she can back it up if the album actually comes out, versus being delayed again.
