8 Interpol Songs to Listen to While Trapped in a Tour Bus for 30+ Hours

Indie rock band Interpol has been stuck on the I-90 highway in Buffalo, New York, for nearly 40 hours. In the middle of its El Pintor tour, the "My Desire" group's tour bus is one of hundreds of vehicles stuck in the middle of a massive upstate snowstorm.

Interpol's Dan Kessler and Brandon Curtis have been giving frequent updates from Twitter, and despite the dire conditions, it seems like the band is doing just fine. Though snowplows have been unable to reach the bus, they're snuggled up with "vodka and dry goods," so they likely have it better than other drivers on the road.

And, if you think about it, Interpol's music is pretty fitting for a freak snowstorm. From songs about barricades to music about New York, it's like Interpol has been predicting this for quite some time. So, in solidarity with the band, here are # Interpol songs to get you through 40+ hours on a snowed in tour bus.

1. "Barricade"
This song seems like the most obvious choice for any snowed in playlist, but in light of Interpol needing to cancel its Toronto tourstop, the lyrics ring with even more relevancy. "Sometimes it feels like a barricade / To keep us away, to keep us away / It kind of does," Paul Banks sings. Yeah. A massive SNOW barricade.

2. "NYC"
"New York Cares," Banks sings in this Turn on the Bright Lights ballad... and it does, until you get stuck in the snow for a day and a half. Though the song itself is about New York City and not upstate New York, Banks does mention the subway, which would be a far preferable manner of traveling, even if the G train does get stuck underground for 40 minutes on occasion.

3. "Everything Is Wrong"
Everything is, indeed, wrong when you're stuck on the highway for over 30 hours. "But nobody likes to wait / Everything is wrong, truly wrong." Truer words have never been sung about Interpol's situation. Furthermore, there's something particularly snowy about the guitar work in this track. Just listen for it...

4. "The Heinrich Maneuver"
"How are things on The West Coast / I hear you're moving real fine," gets a different meaning when one thinks about the traffic in, say, Oregon as compared to the major Buffalo traffic jam.

5. "Take You on A Cruise"
Preferably to somewhere like Bermuda or Jamaica, far, far away from the massive Northeast snowstorm.

6. "Obstacle 1"
Much like "Barricade," the title of this song rings true, because the snowstorm is a massive obstacle to Interpol's tour. The lyrics don't match up quite as well, but if the band can "lick the salt off your lost faded lips" and put it on the road, it could help dislodge the tour bus!

7. "Slow Hands"
The hands to remove the tour bus from the snow have been moving rather slowly, making this song a perfect fit. (Though we here at Music Times are sure they're doing everything they can!) Plus, "Slow Hands" is one of the most rocking songs in Interpol's discography, so it's not a bad record to put on and dance to in order to pass the time.

8. "All Fired Up"
And, in last case scenario, just get fired up and passionate and torch the road. That is SURE to melt the show. (You're welcome for the tip, Interpol.)
