Kaskade: was not able to play
The Redux started was created two years ago on the 10th year anniversary of the release of his debut artist album It's You, It's Me. It was born out of a desire to go back to the Kaskade sound of old, before he became the star that he is today. That deeper, more relaxed sound was the hallmark of his earlier albums like It's You, It's Me and The Calm. That sound was featured heavily on his most recent album, Atmosphere, though it did mix in some big, anthemic tracks as well.
The Redux tour kicked off in 2013 and has been going strong, taking over some of his favorite small clubs across the United States in Chicago, Miami, New York, Dallas and elsewhere. One of his favorite places on the 2014 tour was at Brooklyn club, Output, which described in a post on his Tumblr page as "one of the most successful nights of Redux." On that same Tumblr post, Kaskade describes his intention behind Redux and what he aims to achieve with it. He states, "Redux started out as being an intention — a big idea about a small room. A few sweaty nights were all I had planned. Loud sound systems in a few key cities, accompanied by low lights, floors packed a few hundred deep, with house heads all bouncing to a groove with me."
Kaskade, whose real name is Ryan Raddon, continues, "The idea was to strip things back down and nod to the way it was. Closed eyes meant you were doing it right. The only sensory assault was sound, with restraint everywhere else. Music would be the experience."
The show will be put on by RPM Presents and Pacha NYC the night before the biggest party night of the year. The night before, Armin van Buuren will be taking over Pier 94 as part of Big Week NYC, so get you dancing shoes ready for a big week. Tickets go on sale at 3 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 21. The event will be 21+ and doors are at 8 p.m.
