Badfinger's 'Baby Blue' Sales Predicted To Be Up 3,000 Percent After 'Breaking Bad' Finale

According to Billboard, sales for Badfinger's "Baby Blue" have risen dramatically after Sunday's Breaking Bad finale. The song was played as the final scene ended (we won't give away any spoilers). The lyrics were fitting to the story: "Guess I got what I deserve" refers to Walt's fate, and "The special love I have for you/ My baby blue" refers to the blue crystal meth that he cooked, which propelled him to be a drug lord.

The song has made its way into the top 25 on iTunes' top songs list, according to the article, and is expected to make a comeback on the Billboard charts this week.

Billboard says that industry sources are predicting about a 3,000 percent gain in sales. The track sold 5,000 downloads on Sunday night alone.

"Baby Blue" peaked at no. 14 back in April 1972. It was one of Badfinger's six chart hits. The song was featured on the album "Straight Up," produced by Todd Rundgren and George Harrison through the Beatle's label, Apple.

The article also states that the song is doing well among streaming sites. Global streams from Spotify of the track were up 9,000 percent within the 11 hours after the Breaking Bad finale aired.

We will see how far the track goes on the charts this week, but it's clear that with a historic 10.3 million viewers for the AMC show's finale, the song finally found the audience it needed.
