The National made their television debut last night on FOX's The Mindy Project in the episode "Music Festival."
"I'm a big fan of the show and in interviews, they would ask me what I'd been reading lately," frontman Matt Berninger said in the behind-the-scenes video. "I kept saying 'The Mindy Project' because I watch more TV than I read... We became really big fans of the show, so they invited us on."
Beringer ended up getting three lines on the episode, as well.
*Spolier Alert*
The scene begins with Danny working in the medical tent at the fictional Pennyfarthing Music Festival. He is upset because he missed his favorite band The National, which was the only reason he wanted to go to the festival. Morgan and a few others from the hospital walk into the tent, and behind them are the members of The National.
"When Morgan told us what he had planned, how could we refuse?" Beringer says.
"Go along with what I'm saying right now," Morgan whispers to Danny. "Because that's the only reason the band came all the way over here. You with me?"
Morgan proceeds to get on one knee and propose. The two get "engaged" and the band plays an acoustic version of "This is the Last Time" off their most recent album, Trouble Will Find Me.
