Azelia Banks wants you to remix her latest single "Chasing Time" and if she likes it, you could win $10,000. Just two weeks after the release of her critically acclaimed debut artist album Broke With Expensive Taste, she is looking to put the spotlight back on her work by getting others to remix "Chasing Time." Her opening lyrics to the song make this perfect for a remix. She croons, "I want somebody who can take it apart," she sings. "Stitch me back together, make me into who I wanna be."
Azealia Banks' relationship with the dance world has been a mixed bag. She has actively tried to sample dance music producers and looked towards the dance world for inspiration on her tracks. The 13th track Luxury on Broke With Expensive Taste was produced by house & techno producer Machinedrum. However, she has also had run-ins with a host of different producers over unlicensed samples. Baaeur asked her to take down her "Harlem Shake" remix when she decided to rap over it. Azealia had a prolonged fued with moombahton producer Munchi over her usage of his song "Esta Noche" in her same titled track without his permission.
Azealia has also had a continued fued, one-sided with Disclosure, where she recently said she wanted to hit them via The Guardian. I want to punch one of them in the face - the little one [possibly Guy Lawrence]. The ugly one. I want to hit him so bad." Banks explains, "I saw him at the airport in Australia and I came over to him and I was like: 'Hello? Like, what are we going to do with this song?' And he was just being a dickhead. I started crying, I was so angry. I wanted to hit him. I cannot stand that little boy with all those pimples around his mouth. I love their music, though."
You can go and get the stems for "Chasing Time" now on BitTorrent, who has had an increasing, legal presence in the music world. You can then upload your remix to the Remix Lab on SoundCloud and it will be judged from there. The deadline for entry is Dec. 15, so get to work on your remix.
