By now most sites (ours included) have buttons that allow you to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. Yesterday, Spotify launched a button of its own that allows users to embed in their websites.

Add Spotify Follow buttons to your pages and make it easy for your web visitors to follow you, your favourite artists, or any Spotify profile. Great for artists who want to build a fan base, bloggers who want to raise their Spotify profiles, and music lovers who just want to share their tastes!"
According to BillboardBiz, Spotify originally had no intention of building its own social network. But about a year ago the company changed its mind and began adding social features to the site. Spotify currently has a new "Message and Browse" feature that allows users to comment on songs and start conversations around music.
