DJ Mister Cee has officially parted ways with New York radio station Hot 97. According to reports, this marks the second time Cee has resigned from the station in a year. His departure comes months after Angie Martinez left the station for its rival Power 105.
According to BET, fellow radio personality Funkmaster Flex broke the news with an Instagram photo captioned, "Resignation Alert!!! Today will be @djmistercee last day on @hot97 !!! Tune in and wish him well!!!! @djfunkflex"
Back in September 2013, Cee attempted to resign from the station after a sexual encounter with a drag queen was exposed. As reported by HipHopDX, Cee was arrested on multiple occasions for solicitation of prostitution in New York City. He reportedly plead guilty to the charges stemming from each arrest. It has been reported that each of these incidents involved transgender prostitutes.
Following his first resignation, Cee explained that his decision to leave was rooted in not wanting to jeopardize the integrity of the Emmis Communications-owned station.
Mister Cee's resignation comes months after Angie Martinez gave up her evening show for spot on Power 105's roster. After more than 15 years, Martinez had her final Hot 97 show back in June.
"I'm excited to join Power 105.1 in New York and The Beat in Miami and expand my brand even further in the coming months," she said.
As previously reported, her new show is simulcast on sister Clear Channel station 103.5 FM The Beat in Miami. It is also expected Clear Channel may later put her on other hip-hop and urban stations.
