Alt-pop vocalist Sky Ferreira has cancelled the remainder of her dates opening for Vampire Weekend, due to a vocal injury. The songstress had announced previously that she would take off concerts from this week in order to rest her vocal cords, however a performance in San Diego on October 1 caused a hemorrhage to form.
"I'm so sorry," she tweeted to fans. "I'll basically be a monk by the time this is over."
There haven't been any indications yet as to whether this will effect non-Vampire Weekend shows for Ferreira. She's schedule to perform on October 27 in Los Angeles during the release part for her debut album, "Night Time, My Time," which will be released October 29.
The last calendar month has been an unpleasant one for Ferreira. Aside from the vocal issues, she and her boyfriend, DIIV frontman Zachary Cole Smith, were pulled over in New York City. Smith was charged with several driving infractions, and was also charged with possession of heroin and a stolen license plate. Ferreira was charged with possession of ecstasy and for resisting arrest, but still found it difficult to shake the heroin charges of her significant other. She'c complained about being accused of being a drug addict.
"It's annoying because I wasn't charged with his heroin," she said during an interview with Billboard magazine. "It says it. The public records are out there. I wasn't charged with it. Trust me, if I was even anywhere near that, they would've charged me because they had no problem charging me with other s---."
