And it was over just as quickly as it was confirmed. After a short period of dating, it seems as though tween icons Austin Mahone and Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello have broken up. In a new radio interview, the "Sledgehammer" singer admitted that she and her fellow rising pop star beau have "recently" called it quits.
In a conversation with Pittsburgh's KISS 96.1 (via Billboard) Cabello opened up about her new single status after being casually asked about how Mahone was doing.
"Oh, we're actually not together anymore," she said. "[It happened] just recently - but, hey, things happen."
Cabello, who seemed perky despite the recent break up, seemed optimistic about her future romantic prospects. She is just 17 years old, after all, and the holiday season is coming up. And Cabello is gardening for a little bit of mistletoe.
"I need some mistletoe action!" she exclaimed, continuing the high spirits.
Though Cabello may be single, she has a lot to look forward to in the upcoming weeks. After name-checking the first lady, Michelle Obama, earlier this year in the Fifth Harmony single "BO$$," Cabello and her 5H bandmates have been invited to perform at the White House to perform for Mrs. Obama and President Barack Obama.
"We've got Obama. We're performing for him at National Tree Lighting, and I'm freaking out," she said. "It's a big deal. I'm still screaming."
Austin Mahone, meanwhile, has kept quiet about the recent breakup; the "Secret" singer has not tweeted since Nov. 20.
