The feud between Anderson Cooper and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has a new and humorous spin on it. Anderson Cooper fired the first volley when he decided to put Billy Corgan on his "Ridiculist" in October after Billy Corgan posed on the front of PAWS Chicago Magazine holding 2 black cats. The magazine is the print publication for the no-kill shelter PAWS Chicago. Billy Corgan fired back with some tweets and now has manufactured some T-shirts featuring cats in bow ties that say prominently "F-k You Anderson Cooper" (via Pitchfork).
The PAWS campaign was done with Billy Corgan in honor of the Smashing Pumpkins second artist album Siamese Dream. Anderson Cooper laments that his favorite rockers won't always be the same rockers they once were in a nostalgia-driven monologue. Corgan responded with tweets of his own on that night in support of PAWS Chicago and doing work for charity. Watch Anderson Cooper's "Ridiculist" segment on his website.
Last night in their hometown of Chicago, the Smashing Pumpkins performed at the Thalia Hall and wore the shirts while performing.
The Smashing pumpkins will be releasing their new artist album Monuments to an Elegy on Dec. 9.
