Following the release of the Machete Kills lyric video for "Aura," Lady Gaga announced last night what her next single would be. She reached out to her little monsters on Twitter asking them to guess which single would be her next. Once the correct answer began trending, she would confirm the follow up to "Applause."
"Ready to know what/when the next single is?" she Tweeted them. "TREND your song prediction and when you guess it right I will announce it #ARTPOP"
After a few wrong answers, such as "Gypsy" and "Manicure," "Venus" started trending around 7:30 p.m. ET and Gaga then confirmed it.
Billboard suggests that the song refers to "The Birth of Venus" painting from Italian artists Botticelli, which they say is featured behind Gaga on ARTPOP's cover.
After confirming the next track, Gaga tweeted that the second single "Venus" would be released worldwide on Oct. 27. "Descend your discoballs," she said.
ARTPOP is scheduled for release Nov. 8 via Interscope Records. It is the pop star's third album, the follow up to 2011's Born This Way.
While you wait for Oct. 27, check out the videos "Applause" and "Aura" below.
