Spotify celebrated its fifth birthday last week. To commemorate their half-decade in the streaming business, they shared an infographic that revealed some interesting statistics. Here are the 10 most noteworthy things we learned.
1. One million years' worth of music has been streamed on Spotify in the last five years
2. "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is the most-streamed song in the world with over 150 million streams on Spotify
3. The most-streamed song in 24 hours on Spotify is Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" with 1.5 million streams.
4. The most popular artists on the streaming site are Rihanna (Female Artist), David Guetta (Male Artist) and Coldplay (Band).
5. The busiest time of day for playing music on Spotify is between 4 and 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoons.
6. There are more than 150,000 "Twerking" playlists and more than 3,000 playlists that include the word "Chihuahua
7. One user in the USA has created more than 90,000 playlists.
8. Spotify's library includes more than 20 million songs, and 4 million of them have never been streamed - not even once.
9. President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron are both Spotify users.
10. The company has now expanded to 32 countries with more than 6 million paying subscribers and 24 million active monthly users.
