There are roughly 2,800 rappers who tout themselves as the greatest rapper alive. Normally this hasn't prevented the Jays and Kanyes from making albums together, but on October 15, it became an issue when Future downplayed the talent of his temporary boss, Drake, who was hosting the former on his "Would You Like a Tour?" tour.
"Drake made an album that is full of hits, but it doesn't grab you. They're not possessive; they don't make you feel the way I do." he said, according to Billboard writer Erika Ramirez. "I've been on the songs of all these rappers that put out an album, and my music is still better."
Drake, believe it or not, didn't take well to Future condescending all over Nothing Was The Same, and ordered the yet-to-release-an-album Future fired from the tour. Miguel is still on the lineup, but a potential replacement hasn't been announced yet. The tour is scheduled to start in Pittsburg on October 18.
Of course, Future isn't taking his lay-off sitting down. The rapper was planning on bringing home $40,000 a show for opening (totally unrelated: We're available to open for you if you need it, Drake), and thus he's suing for $1.5 million, his estimated haul from the tour, for breach of contract. Drake reportedly offered him the job back, but at a pay cut, which Future was not about.
No word on whether he plans on bringing litigation against Billboard, whom his spokesperson said was under instruction to leave the offending comments off the record. The magazine apologized for any confusion, suggesting that no indication was given that anything was off the record, but it removed the quotes from its story anyhow. Ramirez left the quotes on her Twitter account.
