Axl Rose is not knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door yet. The "Welcome to the Jungle" singer is the latest rock star to fall victim to an Internet death hoax. While he did not immediately respond to the false reports, the Guns N' Roses frontman eventually posted a funny sentiment about the incident via Twitter. The story was originally posted on a fake MSNBC website with the headline, "Sources: Guns N' Roses Frontman Axl Rose Found Dead in West Hollywood Home at Age 52."
"If I'm dead do I still have to pay taxes?" the iconic frontman tweeted yesterday (Dec. 3) after the story surfaced.
The band posted some pictures of Rose for good measure on the fansite ParadiseCity.com Facebook page, Billboard notes. The post includes lines from the band's Chinese Democracy track "Sorry."
Guns N' Roses is reportedly putting the finishing touches on new music. Longtime keyboardist Dizzy Reed confirmed last month that the material will be out soon. According to Rose, some of the material was left over from the Chinese Democracy sessions.
"We recorded a lot of things before Chinese was out," he said. "We've worked more on some of those things and we've written a few new things. But basically, we have what I call the second half of Chinese. That's already recorded. And then we have a remix album made of the songs from Chinese. That's been done for a while, too."
Guitarist DJ Ashba also promised that the band would be hitting the road in 2015.
Rose tweeted a picture of a mixing board after addressing the hoax.
