On July 9, Flyleaf released their new EP, 'Who We Are,' a five-track release, featuring the band's new single, 'Something Better' with POD's Sonny Sandoval, as well as live recordings from their recent tour.
The new EP features songs such as 'Call You Out,' 'Fire Fire,' 'Broken Wings,' 'Sorrow,' and 'Something Better. 'Call You Out,' 'Fire Fire,' and 'Broken Wings' are live recordings of songs from the band's latest full-length album, New Horizons, and 'Sorrow' is a live performance from their debut album. 'Something better' is their successful new single form their upcoming album, which they premiered in June.
All of the songs on the new EP were recorded by producer Howard Benson amidst the band's busy touring schedule. 'Who We Are,' was released through A & M Octone Records and contains about 15 minutes of music throughout its five-track duration.
The new EP marks the band's first multi-track release since they lost their lead singer, Lacey Sturm, who has since been replaced by former Vedera vocalist, Kristen May. The new set-up has made for a fresh new sound for Flyleaf, which has resulted in some mixed reactions from fans.
"The live tracks came from our 2013 Winter tour with Drowning Pool. 'Something Better' is one of the first songs we wrote with Kristen May" Flyleaf said, according to Indie Vision Music. "It was an awesome experience writing together! Plus, having Sonny from P.O.D. on this track was really special. We've been fans of theirs for years, and it was an honor to do this collaboration. We think y'all will love it!"
Flyleaf is a platinum-selling Christian rock band comprised of Kristen May on vocals, Sameer Bhattacharya on lead guitar, Jared Hartmann on rhythm guitar, Pat Seals on bass and James Culpepper on drums.
Flyleaf is set to begin a new tour on which they will be co-headlining with P.O.D. The tour will kick-off on July 13, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and will run through until August 10, in San Diego, California. They are offering limited edition silk-screen prints that have been designed by bass player, Pat Seals, in combination with the new 'Who We Are' EP.
