Back in July, Ms. Lauryn Hill performed two concerts at the Brooklyn Bowl and today, Dec. 4, the legendary R&B/hip-hop artist has shared a two hour concert special compiled from these shows titled Live at the Brooklyn Bowl. The special is available for purchase on demand and through pay-per-view until New Year's Eve and features performances of songs from both Hill's solo career and her work with the Fugees. Ms. Hill was kind enough to share a video of her performance of the Fugees' "Ready Or Not" from the special, which you can check out below:
Live from the Brooklyn Bowl was filmed during Lauryn Hill's first tour since being released from prison in Oct. 2013. Hill served three months behind bars at the Federal Correctional Institute of Danbury, Connecticut for tax evasion.
Hill's sole studio album as a solo artist, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, was released back in 1998, and is considered one of the greatest albums of all time. Her most recent single, "Consumerism," was released in Oct. 2013 upon her release from prison, and is expected to be included on Hill's long-awaited sophomore studio effort, Letters From Exile.
"Letters from Exile is material written from a certain space, in a certain place," she said upon releasing "Consumerism" (via Consequence of Sound). "I felt the need to discuss the underlying socio-political, cultural paradigm as I saw it. I haven't been able to watch the news too much recently...But inspiration of this sort is a kind of news in and of itself, and often times contains an urgency that precedes what happens. I couldn't imagine it not being relevant."
Ms. Hill is performing three dates in Texas this month. You can check out those dates right here:
12/07: Austin, TX @ Emo's
12/09: Houston, TX @ House of Blues
12/10: Dallas, TX @ Southside Ballroom
