K-Pop fans on alert: Korean hip-hop/pop act Topp Dogg will be making its American performance debut during 2015 but you'll need to get your tickets fast: The group will only be playing three gigs as part of the mini-tour. Check out the three gigs announced thus far (from Billboard):
02/05: Houston @ - Bayou Music Center
02/07: Miami Beach @ The Fillmore
02/08: Atlanta @ Tabernacle
The tour is a tad off from what we've come to expect from visiting K-Pop acts, mostly in that the two most popular touring cities in the country have been left off the list this time around: Los Angeles, host of the annual K-Con fan convention, is normally a must for K-Pop acts passing through the U.S. New York City is also a safe bet thanks to its variety of venues and an all-but guaranteed audience. Looks like Topp Dogg is aiming to stay warm however. The group will also be playing fairly small venues-big enough, but not arena sized-so tickets are bound to go quickly. Prices start at $50.
Topp Dogg dropped its debut album Dogg's Out during October of 2013. The group was founded by Cho PD, a Korean hip-hopper also known for his work with Block B. The group follows the K-Pop trend of "the more the merrier," featuring 13 members at the moment (although sharing almost nothing stylistically with the Wu-Tang Clan).
This year marked the most active year in American history for performance visits from Korean acts, reflecting on the growing niche fan base within our shores. Topp Dogg is the first debut tour announced thus far for 2015 but expect plenty more where that came from.
