New York City's renowned Roseland Ballroom on 52nd street will possibly be closing its doors in April, Billboard reports.
According to the article, the venue, owned by developer Larry Ginsberg and booked by Live Nation, has a history dating back to 1919 when it was located at 51st and Broadway.
It was once a popular dance hall in the 1920s and has housed gigs for artists spanning most genres. It holds about 3,500 people - a capacity larger than most of its competitor's. Because of this, the venue is highly sought after and remains busy.
Billboard suggests that the move has less to do with the venue's bottom line and more to do with the location's property value.
Ken Fermaglich from the Agency Group told Billboard, "[It] will be a huge loss for concerts in New York City. I love the venue and always have. I saw Nirvana there and will never forget that show."
Upcoming shows at the venue include Danzing, Fitz & the Tantrums, the Wanted, Pretty Lights, Hoodie Allen and Panic! At the Disco.
Live Nation or Roseland, however, have not confirmed this information. We will update you with more news as it comes.
