Ralph Stanley has been performing for 70-plus years, and the legendary bluegrass musician hasn't showed many signs of slowing. He's releasing a new album, Ralph Stanley & Friends: Man of Constant Sorrow, will feature Robert Plante, Elvis Costello, Dierks Bentley, and several other stars.
Out on Jan. 15, the record is named after the song he contributed to the 2002 film O Brother, Where Art Thou.
"I have always enjoyed performing with other musicians ever since my older brother Carter and I first started playing music together when we were kids," Stanley said, referring to his late brother, who passed in 1966. "I am excited to share these collaborations with such wonderful artists with our fans."
According to Radio.com, The Stanley Brothers "were the first country act to perform and record in the style pioneered by bluegrass inventor Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys," and were responsible for a switch to "an entirely new genre in itself."
The new CD will be available exclusively through Cracker Barrel stores and on the company's website beginning Jan. 15.
