California garage rock extraordinaire Ty Segall has announced a new EP titled Mr. Face, which is set for release on Jan. 13 through Famous Class Records. Though Mr. Face contains only four tracks, which could easily fit onto one record, the EP will be released as a double seven-inch, and is being billed as "the world's first playable pair of 3D glasses," which you're supposed to hold up to your eyes while you look at the psychedelic record sleeve (as Segall helpfully demonstrates with this animated GIF over at Pitchfork).
"Pressed on translucent red and blue-colored vinyl," a press release explains (via Consequence of Sound), "you just look through the records to activate the supercharged 3D artwork." Jack White is probably kicking himself right now for not thinking of this first.

Segall's most recent studio album Manipulator was released on Aug. 26 through Drag City. It was his seventh solo album overall, his first since 2013's mostly acoustic Sleeper, and was the longest the 27-year-old ever took to record an album.
"Honestly, financially, I never had the opportunity to make anything like this album before," Segall told Pitchfork about the intense recording process behind Manipulator, "modern music doesn't allow for artists to work with independent labels to make crazy, expensive records. It just doesn't happen. And I'm really lucky working with Drag City, where we got the record done and were able to spend a little more money and time on it."
