One Direction recently went on Dutch TV to promote their new artist album 1D and after an interview with host Humberto Tan on RLT Late Night. They discuss a whole range of topics including their upcoming tour, success and Four, but also get a special surprise from Dutch DJ/producer Nicky Romero. The host had apparently asked Romero to pick out a song on the album of his liking and make a special edit of it just for show. Nicky Romero chose "18" and played the single remix for them on TV (via YourEDM).
The whole experience was a little awkward because One Direction had to show some sort of enthusiasm for Nicky Romero's rendition and they genuinely did seem to like the remix, though Harry Styles was totally unmoved by any of Nicky Romero's beats. Also any time a DJ goes on TV to play one song, it always a little weird since the whole thing is scripted and there cannot be any improvisation, which is critical what [most] DJs do.
The edit will probably never see the light of day besides this play on live TV. Nicky Romero said on Twitter that he made the edit just for the show and though it appeared that the band liked the remix, it isn't entirely up to them whether or not they can release a remix. There have been very few official remixes for One Direction songs ever released, so don't hold you breath that the label will break form for something that was not officially requested.
One direction will be going on a long "On The Road Again" tour in 2015 that will cover all six continents, excluding Antarctica, though the penguins would probably love some 1D action too. Their album Four marked the first time an artist debuted at No. 1 with their first four artist albums.
