The Flaming Lips have premiered a new track, "Wolf Children" off the upcoming EP Peace Sword, which was inspired but the epic space story Ender's Game. The film based on Orson Scott Card's book opens Nov. 1 in theatres with the band digitally releasing the EP on Oct. 29.
As part of the Black Friday edition of Record Store Day, the psych-rockers will release a limited-edition vinyl of the sci-fi concept EP on Nov. 29, which includes the extra track, "Assassin Beetle - The Dream is Ending."
"Wolf Children" takes off in typical Lips fashion with deep, psychedelic synth and eerie, hypnotic vocals. Rolling Stone suggests that the scene where Ender is being attacked by a group of children who have been transformed into wolves might have inspired the song.
Peace Sword is the band's first big release since April's Terror, though the band recently released a Tame Impala cover EP. The upcoming release is mostly separate from the film, although Rolling Stone reports that "Peace Sword" will be used in the film.
