Fox News: Eric Garner
Fox News: Jon Stewart
Hannity shortened Jay-Z's entire résumé to being "a guy who sold crack, was a drug dealer and actually shot somebody," citing an excerpt from the rapper's book.
Hova left that lifestyle long ago, as pretty much everyone in America knows, but that was not enough for Fox News. Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams explains it perfectly in the clip below.
"Hova has done quite a few other things since his dealing days. You would think that'd impress people on Fox, because we all know how much they like to preach to black folks about responsibility, self-improvement and what's wrong with the black community," she says.
A reel of Fox News anchors preaching about what is wrong with the black community follows. Jay-Z, Williams adds, seems to be on the right side of the argument nowadays, though.
"I mean, if you go over their black male to-do list, Jay-Z has it covered: Good job? Check. Stable marriage? Check ... Is he a good father? Check. And he's not just pulling his pants up ... the guy sells belts. Jay-Z is the guy they keep saying they want all other black guys to be, but to them he's still a crack dealer," she said.
So by that logic, it is only fair to start labeling others according to their past. That includes Fox News personalities — and that is just what The Daily Show does.
