As we reported yesterday, Sting and Paul Simon will be stage mates on an upcoming North American tour during which they will perform several of their greatest hits individually and as a duo, according to the New York Times. Today, the full schedule was released and includes eighteen dates from Feb. 8 through March 16 with more dates to be announced.
The article mentions that before the two musicians shared the stage, they actually lived in the same building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. They also appeared together in May at a benefit for the Robin Hood Foundation, performing "The Boxer" and "Fields of Gold." As far as what the two expect from the tour, Sting told NYT that he wasn't sure.
"Paul and I both share this abiding curiosity about music and where it's going," Sting told them. "We don't really know where this is going. We don't really have a clue how this is going to pan out."
According to the article, the idea came about organically through "a spirit of musical exploration" rather than for corporate greed. Sting and Simon will be backed by their respective bands for the tour, simply called, "Paul Simon & Sting: On Stage Together."
Presale tickets for he tour go on sale Wednesdays on each of their respective websites. A general sale will begin next Tuesday, including a March 4 date at Madison Square Garden.
