Gene Simmons might think rock is dead but he's got a master plan for making it cool again: Perform singles with J-Pop acts and make it huge in another part of the world. Hence the forthcoming single "Yume no Ukiyo ni Saitemina," featuring idol act Momoiro Clover Z, which will be available for download on January 28. Whose idea it actually was isn't clear but the song is apparently written by KISS frontman Paul Stanley, according to NME. The girls of "Momoclo" (the group's nickname according to Crunchyroll) will sing while the rock band provides backing.
What could these two acts possibly have in common? A love of dramatic outfits for one. Two promotional photos have been released, one featuring the gals standing in front of the guys while wearing their own half heavy metal armor/half colorful patchwork skirt getups. The other image features the two bands staring each other down while a wall of flame collides with a tidal wave over Mt. Fuji in the background.
Although the Japanese version will be available on American iTunes, an "alternative version" will also appear on the forthcoming KISS compilation Best of KISS 40, which will potentially feature Stanley handling his own English vocals. Another collaboration between the two acts will be featured on that set, titled "Samurai Son."
We assume most of our readers are familiar with KISS by this point, but in case Momoiro Clover Z is new to you: The five-member idol group is apparently the most popular act among the genre, according to polls from 2013 and 2014 (from Tokyohive) and was the nation's no. 4 selling act during 2013.
