Mr. Wonderful will be Action Bronson's first studio album since 2011's Well Done with Statik Selektah, and his first solo studio album since 2011's Dr. Lecter. It will also be Bronson's first full-length release since his 2013 mixtape Blue Chips 2 with Party Supplies.

"My mother calls me Mr. Wonderful," Bronson explained to Fuse about the album's title. "You know, when you do something wrong and you're a s--thead ... great, Mr. Wonderful. Very tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic, Jewish Brooklyn mother."

In an interview with Life and Times, Bronson discussed how he wants Mr. Wonderful to be a properly structured album rather than just a few singles with a bunch of filler.

"[An album] shouldn't be based upon your singles," he said. "it's about the body of work, and I feel that it hasn't been about that for a long time."
