Styx have not released a new album in almost a decade, but they are still very active on the touring front. The group just announced a 2015 tour that will take them through much of the United States before a four-date cruise in the Bahamas.
"Our 2014 Carnival Live shows have been tour standouts, so we are thrilled to get on board again to rock the boat next year," Tommy Shaw said in a statement.
The group toured with Foreigner earlier this year, and vocalist Lawrence Gowan seemed pretty excited to be out on the road.
"There isn't any aspect I haven't loved," he told The Aquarian. "You kind of know, with that first show when you play the tour, what the flavor is going to be like with the audience. [During our first shows in Kansas] they responded so astoundingly well and every single night has been an elevation from there."
Gowan said his favorite part of the shows is typically when Styx gets around to playing perhaps their biggest hit.
"There are a ton of great choices of Styx songs to enjoy on any given night and [the setlist] is a moving target," he said. "My general feeling, though, is that by the time we get to 'Renegade' every night, wherever we are playing, whether it's here or Japan, or England or somewhere else in Europe, because Tommy sings lead on that song, there's always a good moment when I'm just trying to debrief, and I can gauge the audience's emotional state."
