Eminem places four songs in Hot 100 Top 20; first performer since The Beatles to do so

Earlier during our weekly roundup of the Billboard Digital Downloads chart, we reported that Eminem had place three tracks within the Top 10, something that had only been done during the year by Katy Perry. A bigger deal is that the rapper was able to place four songs in the Hot 100 list, something that hasn't been done since 1964.

"The Monster," his newest single, which features Rihanna as well, placed at no. 3 on the list. The other three tracks- "Berzerk," "Survival," and "Rap God"- were walking the edge, but came in at nos. 15, 16 and 17 respectively. All of the singles, outside of "Berzerk," were released throughout October. The outlier was the first single dropped, during August, and has seen renewed popularity during the buildup to the release of The Marshall Mathers LP 2 last Tuesday.

Other rappers- such as 50 Cent, T-Pain, Lil Wayne and Ludacris- have all been involved with four Top 20 songs at the same time during the last decade, but what sets Eminem apart is that he's the headlining act on all of the tracks currently on the list, whereas the other rappers were merely featured performers for at least part of their four.

The numbers from last week make Eminem the only solo artist to pull off the feat. However he's got some pretty big shoes to fill if he aspires to tying the record for most songs in the Top 20 by a non-solo performer. The Beatles landed six different tracks during April, 1964, which included classics such as "Can't Buy Me Love," "Twist and Shout" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand."
