Breaking news for the estimated .008 percent of people who watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show with genuine interest in the musical performers: Taylor Swift will be headlining the show among a slew of other musical guests. Fall Out Boy, Neon Jungle and A Great Big World will also make their debut appearances on the show.
"If a mad scientist were asked to create the perfect combination of the beauty of a Victoria's Secret Angel with the ultimate talent and creativity from today's music scene, the answer would be simple -- Taylor Swift," said Jack Sussman, CBS vice president of specials and events.
That compliment really pushed the extremes of P.R., but no doubt that Swift is a huge name for the ceremony. One issue to watch for, as pointed out by Music Times' Jon "Union Jack" Niles, is how CBS chooses to handle Swift's height. The country star is 5'10", taller than the average Victoria's Secret model (5'9"). That's not a terrible difference, but it'll be interesting to see if CBS tries to keep her short. Look to see if Swift is wearing flats while the models walk the runway in heels.
It's great to see CBS branching out in terms of both genres, and bands you may not have heard of. Fall Out Boy needs no introduction, despite releasing its first album in five years, Save Rock and Roll, in April. Neon Jungle is a British girl-group turning out electropop similar in style to that of Icona Pop, and A Great Big World is comprised of pop duo Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino.
Admittedly, it's a little less star-studded than 2012's show, which featured Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Bruno Mars. We doubt that'll really affect viewership however.
