Thomas Rhett is set to embark on a huge national tour with Florida Georgia Line, and there's little doubt that 2015 will be an important year in his young career. But when asked about his New Year's resolution, Rhett wasn't focused on writing better songs or showing more of his soul to fans on a nightly basis.
"Our New Year's resolutions this year might be a bit different, because me and my wife have done a pretty decent job at tryin' to stay in shape and eat right," he told Taste of Country. "But I would say that my New Year's resolution would be to stretch more."
Uhh... what?
"To maybe do a little bit more diverse workouts, such as yoga, maybe hot yoga, maybe sweat house kinda thing," he said. "Maybe get more into the whole stretching spiritual mind set of things. Yeah, that might be my New Year's resolution."
Alrighty, then. We suppose un-limber hips sink ships, or something like that.
Rhett will play the CMT Ultimate Kickoff Party Live from the College Football National Championship on Jan. 9. That gig, which takes place three days before the actual game, will be at the Dallas Convention Center.
After that, Rhett is off on a lengthy tour with the boys from FGL. That run begins Jan. 15 in Toledo and is currently slated to end June 26 in North Platte, NE.
The 24-year-old broke into the game as a songwriter, and recently discussed the pros and cons of penning tunes versus being out on the road.
"When you write, you get to actually stay in town for more than two days, so I would say that's the upside," he said. "But, you know, I wouldn't trade going on the road for anything. I've got such a great team behind me that's very, very good at booking us on awesome dates and getting us on some awesome tours."
